Privacy note: This analyzer processes audio locally in your browser after you click Start. We do not record, store, or upload microphone audio.
Disclaimer: We provide both A4=440 Hz and A4=432 Hz references for note identification. We do not claim one system is “better,” and we do not promote fixed “healing frequencies.” Use this as a gentle guide alongside your personal listening experience.
How to Read the Musical Note and Octave
When the analyzer shows a result like C4 or G3, it gives two pieces of information: the musical note (C, D, E, F, G, A, B) and the octave number (how high or low that note sits).
- Octave changes the “height” of the same note: C3 is deeper than C4, and C4 is deeper than C5.
- Each octave up roughly doubles the frequency: A3 ≈ 220 Hz, A4 ≈ 440 Hz (A4=440 system).
- For bowls: lower octaves often feel grounding and spacious; higher octaves often feel bright and uplifting.
A singing bowl also produces multiple tones at once. The analyzer helps you see these:
- Fundamental note = the main tone (your “Detected Fundamental”).
- Overtones = higher peaks that add shimmer and texture.
Frequency Chart (Equal Temperament) – A4 = 440 Hz
Use this chart to match the fundamental frequency you see in the analyzer (Hz) to the closest musical note and octave. Example: ~261.6 Hz is closest to C4.
