What makes a moon bowl different

The difference is timing, not a different metal or a different shape. A full moon bowl is hammered from the same traditional seven-metal alloy as any other Himalayan bowl, by the same smiths, using the same technique. The work is scheduled to fall on the night of the full moon instead of an ordinary working day.

Himalayan metalworking tradition holds that the full moon is when the metals are most receptive, and that a bowl made then carries that energy. That is a belief, not a measurement, and we would rather say so plainly. Choosing the right size

Diameter is the biggest single influence on tone. As a working rule, each additional inch lowers the fundamental and lengthens the sustain, though wall thickness, weight and form matter too.
