The distinction is about timing, not about a different metal or a different shape. A full moon bowl is hammered from the same traditional seven-metal alloy as any other Himalayan bowl, by the same smiths, using the same technique — but the work is scheduled to fall on the night of the full moon rather than on an ordinary working day.

Himalayan metalworking tradition holds that the full moon is when the sacred metals are most receptive and the tone that emerges carries that energy. That is a belief rather than a measurement, and we would rather say so plainly than pretend otherwise. We select after you order, and a certified sound healer does the listening — she trained at the Golden Temple Singing Bowl & Healing Center in Patan Durbar Square and uses these bowls in her own practice. Choosing the right size

Diameter is the single biggest factor in tone. Each additional inch lowers the fundamental and lengthens the sustain, because it takes more metal and considerably more hammering.
