Course Two: The Seven Chakras

The Seven Chakras — one lesson for each

Eleven free lessons taking each chakra in turn. Its location and Sanskrit name, the day it belongs to, its note and frequency, its mantra, element, mudra, metal and ruling planet, the parts of the body it governs, and the affirmation used with it.

This is the heart of the course, and it is the part most people return to. Course One taught you to play a bowl. This one teaches you what you are playing it for.

Have you finished Course One? If not, start there — this course assumes you can already make a bowl sing and know which direction to work in.

Begin Lesson 2.1

What will you be able to do at the end?

  • Describe any of the seven chakras in full, without looking it up
  • Choose the right bowl, mantra and mudra for a particular chakra
  • Use the affirmations as they are used in this tradition
  • Read the petal diagrams and understand why the higher chakras carry more of them
  • Give yourself a complete seven-bowl session from crown to root

The eleven lessons

2.9 The Petals Why the diagrams gain petals as they rise, and how each chakra inherits the qualities of those below it.
2.10 Mantra and Voice Lam, Vam, Rum, Yum, Hum, Om, Aung — how to chant them, and how to chant with a bowl rather than over it.
2.11 A Complete Seven-Bowl Self-Healing Everything from this course in one session, crown to root, closing in silence.

Do you need seven bowls for this course?

No — but the last lesson assumes them. Lessons 2.1 through 2.10 can all be worked through with the single bowl you used in Course One. You are learning the map, the mantras, the mudras and the correspondences, none of which require a matching bowl.

Lesson 2.11 is the exception. A full seven-bowl session needs seven bowls, and if you have one you can still do the lesson by playing the same bowl at each position — it is a lesser experience, not a wasted one.

If you are building toward a set, a graded chakra set is what the lesson assumes. Remember from Lesson 1.3 that a real set is always a series running from large to small, never seven matching bowls — and from Lesson 1.4 that the crown bowl should be the smallest of the seven.

Buying one at a time also works, and many practitioners build up over years. If you take that route, start with the chakra you keep returning to.

How the affirmations are used

Each chakra carries a short affirmation — the root's is I am connected with the energy of Mother Earth; my body, mind and spirit are grounded, centred and purified.

These are spoken, quietly, while the bowl is sounding. Not chanted and not repeated dozens of times. Once, at the start of that chakra's turn, then silence and the bowl.

Each lesson gives its chakra's affirmation in full, along with its mudra and mantra, so the three sit together as they do in practice.

How does the certificate work?

The course ends with ten questions, four options each, drawn from across the eleven lessons. Answer all ten correctly and the page shows a completion code. Send it through the form with the name you want on your certificate and we email you the Certificate of Completion — The Seven Chakras.

You cannot fail. A wrong answer links you back to the lesson it came from and lets you try again.

Course Two is still self-practice. You will be working on your own body throughout. Working on other people begins in Course Three, which covers intake, contraindications and the limits of what a sound practitioner should take on.

How long does it take?

About three hours to read, and seven weeks to practise properly if you take one chakra per week. That is the pace we would suggest — a week on each is long enough to notice something, and the tradition's own seven-day cycle gives you a natural rhythm.

If a week each feels slow, run the 30-day routine calendar alongside it. And if you are unsure which chakra to give more time to, our chakra quiz will suggest one.

What comes next?

Course Three: Healing Methods is where the two systems separate — Vedic and Tibetan, with different notes for the same chakra — and where you begin working on other people. It covers sound massage, warm water therapy, five-element cleansing and an eighteen-day treatment programme.

Eleven lessons, one for each chakra. Start with how to read a chakra, and the other ten will make sense.
