1. Overview
Dharmatool ("we", "us", or "our") operates the Singing Bowl Tuner mobile application ("App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our App.
Short version: We do not collect, store, or share any personally identifiable information. Audio is processed entirely on your device and is never transmitted to our servers.
2. Information We Do NOT Collect
- No name, email address, or contact information
- No account or login credentials
- No location data (GPS or network-based)
- No audio recordings sent to our servers
- No device identifiers (IMEI, Advertising ID)
- No analytics or behavioural tracking
3. Microphone Access (RECORD_AUDIO)
The App requests microphone permission (android.permission.RECORD_AUDIO on Android,NSMicrophoneUsageDescription on iOS) for one purpose only: real-time frequency analysis of singing bowl sounds.
- Audio is captured and analysed locally on your device using on-device FFT (Fast Fourier Transform) processing.
- Audio data is never uploaded to any server.
- Optionally, you may save a recording file to your device's local storage. This file remains on your device and is never transmitted.
- You can revoke microphone permission at any time in your device Settings; the core frequency-display features will be unavailable while permission is denied.
4. Local Storage
The App may save the following data locally on your device:
- App settings (e.g. tuning preference 440 Hz / 432 Hz) – stored in device SharedPreferences. Not sent anywhere.
- Audio recordings you choose to save – written to your device's Downloads or Documents folder. Not uploaded.
- API response cache (chakra guide, octave reference data) – cached locally to reduce network calls. Does not contain personal data.
5. Network Requests
The App connects to app.dharmatool.com/api to fetch:
- Chakra reference data (names, descriptions, images)
- Octave / frequency reference data
- FAQ content and app settings
These requests do not include any personal data, audio data, or device identifiers. Standard HTTP request metadata (IP address, user-agent) may be logged transiently by our web server in accordance with normal server operations and are not used for tracking.
6. Third-Party Services
The App uses the following third-party libraries; none collect personal data:
- cached_network_image – caches chakra images locally on device.
- url_launcher – opens external links (dharmatool.com) in your browser.
- share_plus – lets you share analysis results via your device's share sheet. Data stays on your device unless you choose to share it.
The App does not integrate Firebase, Google Analytics, Crashlytics, Facebook SDK, or any advertising SDK.
7. Children's Privacy
The App does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13 years of age. The App contains no features directed at children and does not require registration of any kind.
8. Data Security
Because no personal data is collected or transmitted, there is no personal data at risk. Any locally saved files (recordings, cached data) are protected by your device's built-in security (device encryption, app sandboxing).
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
