What is a hanging singing bowl chime?
A hanging singing bowl chime is a set of three Himalayan bowls threaded onto one hanging cord, spaced so each bowl rings freely in the air. Each bowl is a different size, so each one sounds a different note and a different chakra. Because the bowls hang rather than sit on a cushion, nothing damps them and the tones sustain long and clear. Played with a striker it becomes a layered, cascading instrument; left hanging in a quiet space it sounds softly with the movement of the air. It belongs to our range of chakra singing bowl sets.
Why three hanging bowls?
- Three chakras in one instrument. Each bowl is tuned to a different energy centre, so a single set works three points of the body in sequence.
- A cascading sound bath. Strike top to bottom for a descending run or bottom to top to rise, building a layered wash of tone from one motion.
- Completely free-ringing. Hanging on the cord, every bowl rings and decays without a cushion damping it, for a long, pure sustain.
- Hands-free and portable. Hold the cord, hang it from a stand or hook, and play without holding each bowl.
- A beautiful presence. Between sessions it hangs as a quiet wind bell in a therapy room, studio or meditation corner.
Choose your chakra combination
Each set tunes the largest bottom bowl to a lower chakra and the smallest top bowl to a higher chakra, because a bigger bowl rings deeper. Strung on the cord, the deep grounding note hangs at the bottom and the bright high note sits at the top, so playing down the set travels up the chakras. These are our five signature trios. To see how each note maps to a chakra, read our chakra and note guide.
| Combination | Bottom, low | Middle | Top, high | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Body, Heart, Spirit | Root · C | Heart · F | Crown · B | Ground, open and connect. A complete journey. Our flagship set. |
| Grounding Trio | Root · C | Sacral · D | Solar Plexus · E | The three lower chakras. Deep, earthy stability, creativity and confidence. |
| Heart Rising | Solar Plexus · E | Heart · F | Throat · G | Confidence into compassion into expression. Popular with healers and teachers. |
| Higher Mind | Heart · F | Third Eye · A | Crown · B | Heart up through intuition to the crown. For meditation and inner work. |
| Seven Gates | Root · C | Solar Plexus · E | Crown · B | Three anchor points spanning root to crown. A full-spectrum premium set. |
Choose your size trio
The set comes in three size trios. Larger bowls give deeper, lower notes with longer sustain, while smaller bowls give brighter, higher notes. The adjacent-chakra trios sit comfortably in any size, while the full-spectrum trios that span Root to Crown belong on the largest set, where the bottom bowl can reach a genuinely deep note. As every bowl is hand-made, the exact note varies slightly and is matched to the chosen chakra as closely as possible.
| Size trio | Overall pitch | Best suited combinations |
|---|---|---|
| 5 inch + 6 inch + 7 inch | Highest, brightest | Higher Mind (Heart F · Third Eye A · Crown B), Heart Rising (Solar Plexus E · Heart F · Throat G) |
| 6 inch + 7 inch + 8 inch | Balanced mid-range | Heart Rising (Solar Plexus E · Heart F · Throat G), Grounding Trio (Root C · Sacral D · Solar Plexus E) |
| 7 inch + 8 inch + 9 inch | Deepest, fullest | Grounding Trio (Root C · Sacral D · Solar Plexus E), Body Heart Spirit (Root C · Heart F · Crown B), Seven Gates (Root C · Solar Plexus E · Crown B) |

What is included
- Three hand-hammered bowls in your chosen size trio, finish and chakra combination, strung on one hanging cord
- Wooden striker for a bright, clear attack
- Felt-tipped striker for a warm, soft tone
- Free personalized engraving on request, a name, message, initials, logo or photo
How to play the hanging chime
Hold the cord at the top, or hang it from a stand or hook, so all three bowls hang free with space between them. Strike each bowl on its wall with the felt striker for a warm, rounded tone, or the wooden striker for a brighter, more defined attack. Play from the top bowl down for a descending cascade, or from the bottom up to rise through the notes. Because the bowls hang freely, each one rings out fully and the three tones layer and overlap into a sustained wash of sound. Between sessions, hang the set where a gentle draft can move it and it will sound softly on its own.

Each bowl is hand-beaten in Nepal in the Himalayan tradition, then strung and finished by hand. No two sets are identical, so the hammer marks, colour and exact pitch make every piece unique. To care for the set, keep it dry, wipe it with a soft cloth and store the strikers alongside it. New to choosing a bowl?
