Chakra Affirmations to Use With a Singing Bowl

Say one short affirmation for the chakra, once, before you strike its bowl. Then stay silent and follow the sound until it fades. Each chakra has its own words, and the Crown has none.

Key takeaways

  • One affirmation for each chakra, from Root to Third Eye.
  • Say it once, quietly, then strike the bowl.
  • The Crown is held in silence.
  • An affirmation is an intention, not a promise of a result.

What is the short statement for each chakra?

Each chakra has a statement of two words. It is the simplest thing you can say for that bowl.

A simple seated figure with seven coloured dots from the base of the spine to the top of the head. Beside each dot is the chakra name and its short statement: Root I am, Sacral I feel, Solar Plexus I do, Heart I love, Throat I speak, Third Eye I see, and Crown I understand. I understandCrownI seeThird EyeI speakThroatI loveHeartI doSolar PlexusI feelSacralI amRoot
Each chakra has a short statement. At the Crown the statement is not spoken, and the bowl is played in silence.

What is the full affirmation for each chakra?

These are the affirmations as I was taught them. The notes follow the Vedic mapping.

Chakra Statement Affirmation Note
Root I am I am connected with the energy of Mother Earth. My body, mind and spirit are grounded, centred and purified. C
Sacral I feel I feel creative, confident and secure. D
Solar Plexus I do I am strong, powerful and confident. E
Heart I love I am willing to love everything about myself. F
Throat I speak I am willing to be conscious. I speak wisdom and I speak for real. G
Third Eye I see I see. A
Crown I understand No words. Silence. B

For the Third Eye, the statement itself is the affirmation. For the Crown, you say nothing.

How do you use an affirmation with the bowl?

Three steps joined by arrows. Say the affirmation once, shown as a speech bubble. Strike the bowl softly. Then stay silent while the bowl rings and fades. 1"I am"Say it oncequietly, in your own voice 2Strike the bowlsoftly 3Stay silentuntil the sound fades
The words come first and only once. After that, the bowl does the work.
  • 1. Say it once, quietly, in your ordinary voice.
  • 2. Strike the bowl softly.
  • 3. Stay silent and follow the sound until it fades.
  • 4. Strike again without repeating the words.

The affirmation is spoken, not chanted. If you also chant, the seed mantra comes later, once for each strike, as in chanting bija mantras with a singing bowl.

Why does the word "willing" matter?

Two of the affirmations begin with I am willing. That is on purpose.

"I love everything about myself" is a claim many people cannot make honestly. "I am willing to" asks only that you are open to it, so you can say it and mean it.

An affirmation with a bowl supports an attentive state. It is an intention, and it is not a treatment for any condition.

What are the common mistakes?

  • Repeating it many times: once is enough, then let the bowl ring.
  • Talking over the bowl: finish the words before you strike.
  • Saying what you cannot mean: change the words until they are honest.
  • Adding words at the Crown: that bowl is for silence.
  • Expecting a result: an affirmation points your attention. It does not promise an outcome.

Frequently asked questions

What do I say while I play each chakra bowl?

Say one short affirmation for that chakra, once, before you strike. Then stay silent and follow the sound of the bowl until it fades.

What is the affirmation for the Root chakra?

As I teach it: I am connected with the energy of Mother Earth. My body, mind and spirit are grounded, centred and purified.

What is the affirmation for the Heart chakra?

As I teach it: I am willing to love everything about myself. The word willing matters, because it asks only that you are open to it.

How many times should I repeat a chakra affirmation?

Once is enough, at the start of that chakra's turn. The affirmation is spoken, not chanted, and the bowl follows it.

Should I say the affirmation aloud or in my mind?

Either works. Aloud in a quiet, ordinary voice is clearer when you are alone, and silently suits a shared room.

Why is there no affirmation for the Crown chakra?

The Crown is linked with silence in the tradition I was taught. For that bowl you say nothing and simply stay with the sound.

Can I write my own affirmation?

Yes. Keep it short, in the present, and true enough that you can say it honestly. Words like I am willing help when a statement feels too big.
