Which Chakra Bowl for Which Day - Days, Planets and the Seven Notes
In the tradition I was taught, each day has one chakra bowl: Root on Sunday, Sacral on Monday, Solar Plexus on Tuesday, Heart on Wednesday, Throat on Thursday, Third Eye on Friday and Crown on Saturday.
Key takeaways
- One bowl a day: Root on Sunday through to Crown on Saturday.
- Seven notes: C to B, in the Vedic mapping.
- Seven planets: each chakra has a ruling planet in the tradition.
- A rhythm, not a rule: the days give your week a simple shape.
Which bowl goes with which day?
| Day | Chakra | Note | Ruling planet |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sunday | Root | C | Saturn |
| Monday | Sacral | D | Moon |
| Tuesday | Solar Plexus | E | Sun |
| Wednesday | Heart | F | Venus |
| Thursday | Throat | G | Mercury |
| Friday | Third Eye | A | Jupiter and Saturn |
| Saturday | Crown | B | Uranus |
The notes follow the Vedic mapping. The Tibetan tradition maps the notes differently, as explained in chakra bowl playing order.
Which planet rules each chakra?
This is the list as I was taught it. It names two planets for the Third Eye, which it does for no other chakra.
It is not the same as the classical weekday list, where Sunday belongs to the Sun, Monday to the Moon and Saturday to Saturn. The two lists come from different teachings, so do not try to make them match.
The planets also link to the old metals. Read the seven metals in a singing bowl for that side of the tradition.
How do you use the days in practice?
- Find today's bowl in the table.
- Play it for a few minutes, with soft strikes and silence between them.
- Stay with one chakra for the day.
- Move on tomorrow, and begin again at the Root next Sunday.
After seven days you have played every bowl in your set once. A bowl supports relaxation and an attentive state, and the days are a tradition, not a measured effect.

What if you have one bowl, or not seven?
| What you have | How to use the week | Look at |
|---|---|---|
| One bowl | Play it daily, and a little longer on its own day | Live singing bowl tuner, to find its note |
| A set of three | Root on Sunday, Heart on Wednesday, Crown on Saturday | Set builder |
| A set of seven | One bowl each day | Mantra etched 7 chakra singing bowl set |
| One bowl in a note you choose | Pick the day you want to mark | Custom singing bowl |
A set is tuned by selection: each bowl's note is discovered, and bowls whose notes sit together are matched.
What are the common mistakes?
- Treating the days as law: missing a day changes nothing.
- Mixing the two planet lists: the chakra list and the weekday list are different.
- Guessing the note: check it with the tuner before you match a bowl to a day.
- Playing too long: a few calm minutes a day is enough.

Frequently asked questions
Which chakra bowl should I play on which day?
As I teach it: Root on Sunday, Sacral on Monday, Solar Plexus on Tuesday, Heart on Wednesday, Throat on Thursday, Third Eye on Friday and Crown on Saturday.
Which note goes with each day?
In the Vedic mapping, C on Sunday, D on Monday, E on Tuesday, F on Wednesday, G on Thursday, A on Friday and B on Saturday.
Which planet rules each chakra?
In the list I was taught: Saturn for the Root, the Moon for the Sacral, the Sun for the Solar Plexus, Venus for the Heart, Mercury for the Throat, Jupiter and Saturn for the Third Eye, and Uranus for the Crown.
Is this the same as the planets of the weekdays?
No. The classical list gives the Sun to Sunday, the Moon to Monday, Mars to Tuesday, Mercury to Wednesday, Jupiter to Thursday, Venus to Friday and Saturn to Saturday. The chakra list I was taught is a different list.
What if I only have one bowl?
Play it every day, and give it a little longer on the day that matches its note. Use our free tuner to find the note first.
Do I have to follow the days?
No. The days give a simple rhythm for a week of practice. Playing any bowl on any day is fine.
Does the day change what the bowl does?
The sound of the bowl is the same every day. The days and planets are a tradition, not a measured effect.
