The reasoning drew on numerology, biblical interpretation and speculative physics. It did not draw on biology, because there was no biology to draw on.

There is one frequently cited study. In 2018, researchers at Juntendo University measured stress markers in participants after five minutes of 528 Hz music. The results showed some reduction. The sample was nine people.

Nine people, five minutes, one measurement session. That is a preliminary signal worth following up, and it is a very long way from repairing DNA. It supports mild relaxation, which is exactly what you would expect from five minutes of any pleasant sustained tone.

The Point That Matters

None of this means people are imagining the calm they feel. The mapping of the seven chakras to the notes C through B is a modern framework. Traditional Himalayan bowls were not forged to musical notes — the pitch emerged from the process and was identified afterwards, if anyone bothered. The chakra-note correspondence was assembled in the twentieth century, mostly in the West.

That does not make it useless. It makes it a framework rather than an inheritance, and frameworks earn their keep by whether they help.

A chakra sequence gives a session a shape. It gives the practitioner an order to work in, the client something to follow, and both a shared vocabulary for what is happening.
